About the Speakers
Amb. Mitsuaki Kojima
Amb. Mitsuaki Kojima, President, Japan Nepal society and Former Japanese Ambassador to Nepal. Amb Mitsuaki Kojima is a distinguished Japanese policy essayist on global and domestic issues. He has served as the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal and Ambassador to Luxembourg and held important posts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as Deputy Director of Disarmament Division, Director of Research Division and South American Division respectively, and also Managing Director of Planning Department, Japan International Cooperation Agency. He obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from Keio University, as well as a Master’s in Political Science from Yale University. Kojima was accorded The Grand-Croix de l’Ordre du Merite in Luxembourg in March, 2006. Currently, he works as President, the Japan Nepal Society and lives in Tokyo.
Dr. Balaram Shrestha.
Dr. Balram Shrestha is a registered foreign attorney in Japan. He possesses extensive knowledge in the corporate law as well in international law. He holds Bachelors and Masters from Faculty of Law, from Tribhuvan University in Nepal and PhD from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He holds professional experience in law for more than 25 years in Nepal and 17 years’ experience in Japan. He offers consultation and legal services to industry sectors, including domestic and international corporate customers and companies, banks, securities companies, foreign investment companies, hospitals and airliners. Dr. Shrestha is Associate lecturer at the Ibaraki University of japan and researcher of NPO-AGRI. He is a multi-linguist and frequent international traveller. He is associated with many social organizations where he render services in different high level capacities.
Ms. Yumiko Asakuma
Ms. Yumiko Asakuma is Chief Representative for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Nepal Office. Prior to this assignment Ms. Asakuma was working as Director General in Yokohama Centre, JICA. She began her career in JICA in 1993 in the social development cooperation department and diversified her work experience in various departments of JICA office which includes Industrial and mining development study, grant aid cooperation, training group and representative of JICA India office. She also served as a Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan Office from Dec 2012 to Mar 2016. Ms. Asakuma is a graduate from Osaka Prefectural University in Department of Integrated Arts & Sciences.
Mr. Mohan Krishna Shrestha.
Mr Mohan Krishna Shrestha comes from Nepali diplomatic service. He was the former Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu. He served as the Nepalese Ambassador to France and concurrently to Greece, Monaco Portugal and Spain. He has travelled to 71 countries. He has written a book titled “Three Decades in Diplomacy” in Nepali. Its English version was released from London on 18 April 2018. He is Founder President, CEO, of CDD.
