EVENT REPORT
On October 20, Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) hosted a Zoom webinar on ‘Reconsidering Israeli Strategy Vis-a-vis Palestinian National Barbarism.’
The programme was conducted by Dr. Pramod Jaiswal. He is the research director of NIICE. In this webinar, the keynote speaker was Dr. Dan Schueftan. He advised Israeli Prime Minister Rabin and Sharon as Senior National Security Advisor. Israeli academic Dan Schueftan is affiliated with the Haifa University's National Security Studies Centre.
Dr. Dan Schueftan begins his discourse on the failure of responsibility in the nation-building process by Palestinian leaders. He argued that the Palestinians demonstrated a complete disregard for nation-building. They have never made a significant endeavour to establish their own nation. They offered justifications based on factors such as colonialism, occupation, globalization, and mandate.
Dr. Dan Schueftan claimed that there isn't much difference between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. We know that Hamas would have been in charge of the West Bank if it were still a Palestinian territory. It is not run by Hamas because the Israeli Army helps the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank that keep Hamas from taking over. The Palestinian Authority should have held polls more than once, but they don't because Hamas always wins.
He made a statement regarding Palestinian society. ‘This is a society that doesn't care about the future of their own children and what they really want when they get up in the morning is to kill our children rather than to give their children a better future.’
He provides the rationale for the continuing crackdown in Gaja. He believed that it was imperative to inflict widespread destruction upon Gaza, citing two justifications for this course of action. Primarily, it is imperative that we prevent the Barbarians from launching an assault on us and then evading consequences. Gaza has been transformed into a military stronghold by its inhabitants, who are using their own houses and involving their children in these activities.
Dr. Dan Schueftan says we used a demeaning tone that says we're small and few. But we will prevent them from gaining weapons if they possess them or make them fight us. The UN can express its views forever, but I ignore them because they are ignorant or biased against Israel. We will attack if you have weapons. We won't tolerate preemptive strikes or attacking at their convenience.
Dr. Dan Schueftan responded to a range of questions during Q&A sessions. He replied that the failure of intelligence is not due to a lack of information. It is when you examine information that you fail to comprehend. We were not prepared to confront this type of adversary, we are facing. We failed to recognize that we were dealing with Barbarians, although I would like to clarify that this does not imply that they were born barbarians. Although they are born identical to the rest of humanity. But their upbringing by their parents, teachers, leaders, and intellectuals is to murder Jews first and foremost, regardless of the cost.
In terms of terminology, he thinks we need to stop this joke pretending that we have something called Palestine. There is no Palestine. UN repeatedly extended an offer to the state throughout its history, but they consistently declined. Their reason for doing so was to secure a solution that would have allowed them to prolong and escalate the conflict, rather than bring an end to it.
In his concluding remarks, he emphasized that Israel is prepared anytime to strike Iran with maximum force. Furthermore, he highlighted the crucial point that the United States stands firmly by Israel, offering support rather than undermining its position. If Israel is compelled to strike Iran. In this regard, the only way you can deal with a Barbarian is by hitting them or by threatening them in a credible way.
