DESCRIPTION:About the Speaker\nAmara Thiha\nAmara Thiha is Senior Research Manager (Security) at the Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS) and manage the security dialogues project and China research desk. He was also non-resident Fellow at the Stimson Center in 2018. Amara served in Technical Secretariat Center (TSC) of Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (JMC) as Research Manager. In this role, he served as the person responsible for the organizational development of the JMC, and for the establishment of the TSC. He served in Myanmar Peace Center from 2013 until 2016 and supported the Nationwide Ceasefire Negotiations. He was involved in the drafting process of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) from the beginning through its signing, and helped establish the implementation bodies of NCA. A Rangoon native, Amara Thiha is a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) from Coimbra University, Portugal and holds the postgraduate degrees from Uppsala University and Orebro University in Sweden. He is also 2017 Asia Foundation’s William P.Fuller Fellow on conflict resolution.\nWatch it on NIICE Nepal Youtube Channel\n\n
